Lens Toh Bahar Se Hi Lete Hoge Na?

Indian Optics

“Lens toh bahar se hi lete hoge na?”

Every time we tell someone we design and manufacture complete EO IR camera systems in India, this is the first reaction.
And honestly? I don’t blame them.

India is the world’s 2nd largest arms importer (SIPRI, 2024). We spend nearly USD 4–5 billion annually on imported electro optical systems alone. 70–90% of our critical EO IR components like IR detectors, precision optics, and gimbals come from countries such as Israel, France, and the USA.

Our thermal imagers for tanks? French. UAV payloads? Israeli. Apache fire control systems? American.

We launched satellites to Mars. But we still can’t mass produce an infrared focal plane array.

These are the gaps we’re trying to close at EON Space Labs, not by competing with the Elbits and Thales of the world overnight, but by covering the basics first: Designing the optics. Manufacturing the payload. Building the system. All in India.

Baby steps toward putting India on the precision optics map.

The lens? Haan bhai, woh bhi idhar hi banta hai. 🇮🇳
